Polyethylene oxide is a biocompatible material with applications varying from the paper industry to biomedical. It is a polyether compound that is water soluble and has many favorable characteristics for spinning into fiber form. Because of this, it is widely used as a host polymer when processing nanofibers. It is also known to be used as a retention aid in processing pulp, as a dispersing agent and is used for making nanofiber based sensors.
