
By using only centrifugal force, Forcespinning works equally well with solutions or pure molten materials. Forcespinning uses less solvent or no solvent at all so it is much more cost effective than electrospinning. Also t does not use any external heated air jets so it is much cheaper than meltblown. Figure 1. Forcespinning is a very straight forward concept. A reservoir cup “spinneret” that holds the material is rotated at very high speed with a motor and spindle. For melt-spinning you apply heat to the spinneret to melt the polymer. The fibers are created around the radius of the spinneret.
